Louis Vuitton (LV) is a fashion house originating from France. This fashion company was founded in 1854 by Louis Vuitton. The LV monogram label appears on most products such as bags, shoes, watches, glasses and other accessories. Louis Vuitton is one of the world's leading international fashion houses; it sells through independent boutiques, high-end department stores, and through its e-commerce website section.

Its distinctive and elegant design makes this product favored by many women and world celebrities. For the sixth year in a row from 2006-2012, Louis Vuitton was the most luxurious and valuable brand in the world. The Louis Vuitton brand and the LV monogram are world famous and valuable. According to a study conducted by Millward Brown in 2012, LV is one of the 29 most valuable brands.

Out of his box-making skills, the original Louis Vuitton opened its first store in Paris in 1854. The shop specialized in packaging fragile and fashion items. At that time, Vuitton made a chest with the ideal shape that made it famous, namely a box without a curved shape at the end. The crate was also made waterproof.

The chest or suitcase that Louis Vuitton created later became a new standard which later became so popular that he hired more people to open stores abroad, such as London, New York, and Philadelphia.

In 1854 apart from opening his first shop, Louis Vuitton also married his idol Clemence-Emilie Parriaux. From this marriage he was blessed with a child named Georges Ferreol Vuitton.

Louis Vuitton and his son, Georges, briefly crossed paths with the famous illusionist Harry Houdini. In 1886 Vuitton and Georges invented a lock. They also challenged Houdisi to get out of the locked Louis Vuitton suitcase. Unfortunately it was not realized Houdini. But the refusal actually made Vuitton perfect his findings. This Louis Vuitton lock is one of his innovations.

Louis Vuitton died on February 27, 1892. Georges continued his father's business by expanding into other luxury products. In 1901, the Louis Vuitton brand started making the 'streamer bag', a bag to store dirty clothes. It was Georges who later created the famous monogram that made the Louis Vuitton brand easily recognizable.


In 1998, the Louis Vuitton brand didn't just produce luggage. The high end brand sells clothing, shoes, and accessories that are now better known. But as a pioneer of luggage, Louis Vuitton is still often relied on by experts to make custom-made suitcases, for example for the World Cup.

Currently the Louis Vuitton brand, which was founded by a man named Louis Vuitton, is under the multinational corporation LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton or better known as LMVH whose head office is in Paris, France.

For six years in a row, 2006 to 2012, as quoted by the Globe & Mail, Louis Vuitton won the title of the most valuable luxury brand in the world. In 2012, the value of the Louis Vuitton brand was $25.9 billion. And in 2020, Louis Vuitton ranks first as the most valuable luxury fashion brand in the world. According to Forbes, the valuation of Louis Vuitton in 2020 is US$47.2 billion.
